Visual Analysis

"You are born model, you do not become so."
For this quote, I grabbed multiple pieces of modern art for every 3 years since 1998; the year I was born. The medium for this piece is a painting while the technique is made up of photoshop, paint and ink used to form an overall piece that captures the quote provided. The composition was symmetrical and repetitive throughout the work. Lines were used throughout this as well, including implied lines. There are circular, rectangular and geometric shapes, and the value in contrasting. The color scheme is more so compound than others, using radiants of blue, orange, and yellow including neutrals and blacks. the texture is mostly smooth with a hint of roughness as the  space is 2D.
denotative, connotative and ideological.
For denotative, this piece is made up of paint, ink, colored paper and a printout that is collaged and scattered across the sketch paper. The connotative is what this piece actually is, which is modern art collaged and intertwined from every 3 years since the year I was born; 1998, to reflect the quote I have chosen to represent my piece. The ideological meaning behind this piece that correlates with the quote is the fact that I was born loving modern art and style since the day I was literally born. Nothing changed, I did not become modern. To this day I still fall in love with the modern style everyday. In one of our latest readings, we read of how our time period is composed of every style, religion, and culture that has been experienced in the past. Technically, each year can be considered modern when present because each year is made up of composition from our world's past. We were born modern and continue to grow our love for the modern style by giving it additions each year.
